BHP agrees to SAIL's plea for 50% cut in contract price

SAIL, India’s largest coking coal importer renegotiated the long-term coking coal contract with Austrailian mining company BHP Billiton and BHP has agreed to a 50% cut in contract price to USD 150 per tonne for SAIL. When contacted, SAIL declined to comment on the lower contract price with BHP.

SAIL and BHP had earlier entered into a joint venture last year to acquire coking coal, mostly from mines abroad.
